Docker Engine and Portainer

In the following guide, i will explain how to install Docker engine and Portainer on your TerraMaster NAS running TOS5 and TOS6.

We'll use these apps later to deploy docker containers, an alternative to the native apps available to download from tmnascommunity.

At the time of written this guide, for TOS5 ARMv8.2 there is no separate app for docker engine. Docker is bundled in the app Docker Manager. If you have such a system go to section b)

a) For x86_64 platform

Login into your TOS, open the App Center and click on All. In the search field type "docker" and from the results click Install on Docker Engine app.

When the installation is done, click on Docker Engine

Make sure the app show as Enabled and click on Back

b) For ARMv8.2 platform

Login into your TOS, open the App Center and click on All. In the search field type "docker" and from the results click Install on Docker Manager app.

When the installation is done, click on Docker Manager

Make sure the app show as Enabled and click on Back

Now we need to install Portainer, a container management tool.
On the search field type portainer and then select Install

After the installlation is done, click on Portainer

Make sure the app show as Enabled.
Now you can access Portainer by click on Open or by opening a web browser and type http(s)://yournasip/portainer

The default credential to login are user: admin and password: admin

After the first login, we are asked to change the password. Choose a new password with minimum 12 characters and click on Update password.

Confirm the change

Once you log in again with the new password, click on Get Started to connect to the local environment

Next click on Home and then Live connect
